Although Firebird 2.5 reached End of Life years ago, many organizations continue to rely on it for business-critical applications where upgrading is not yet practical.

To help these users maintain a secure production environment, IBPhoenix offers an annual Firebird 2.5 Maintenance Subscription that provides security-patched builds of Firebird 2.5 based on the final official release.

Our goal is simple: enable existing Firebird 2.5 installations to remain secure while minimizing deployment risk.

Why Subscribe?

As new vulnerabilities continue to be discovered in later Firebird versions, some are also found to affect Firebird 2.5. Since the official Firebird project no longer maintains Firebird 2.5, these security issues remain unpatched unless addressed by third parties.

The Firebird 2.5 Maintenance Subscription provides a practical way to keep legacy systems protected while you plan a future migration.

What's Included

Your annual subscription includes:

  • Security-patched Firebird 2.5 builds addressing newly disclosed vulnerabilities affecting Firebird 2.5.
  • Updated releases published whenever new supported CVEs are disclosed.
  • Windows builds available for immediate download.
  • Linux builds available on request.

Each build is based on the final official Firebird 2.5 release and is intended to be a drop-in replacement. No functional changes are introduced beyond the required security fixes, allowing existing applications to continue operating with minimal acceptance testing.

You can subscribe to the contract via our shop. The cost is €240 / $274 per year.

Additional Services

For organizations that must remain on Firebird 2.5 for the foreseeable future, IBPhoenix also offers additional maintenance options, including:

  • Custom Firebird 2.5 builds incorporating selected backported fixes.
  • A special Firebird 2.5 build with 64-bit Transaction IDs, eliminating the well-known 32-bit transaction ID limit and extending the transaction counter to the same practical range introduced in Firebird 3.
