Ann W. Harrison answers:

Possible, yes. Advisable... maybe. If you use new SQL language features from V2.0 in triggers, procedures, or check clauses, you won't be able to move backward. Otherwise, from the system that's running the older version, use that local gbak and specify the V2.0 database. Restore the backup on the older system.

The two database formats are not compatible. V2.0 can read and write databases created by earlier versions, but earlier versions can not handle V2.0 databases.

Dmitry Yemanov answers:

You need to use v1.5.2 GBAK to backup the database running on a v2.0 server. Backups made with v2.0 GBAK (or v2.0 Services API) cannot be restored on previous server versions.
