  • 15th Jun 2005 Service Pack 1. This release contains one new server feature, plus some important bug fixes to both the server and the GUI tools. The new server feature is SET TRANSACTION NO SAVEPOINT, which will increase performance when running large batch jobs which repeatedly update the same records.

  • 16th Aug 2003 Security Update fixes the following security problem for Windows and Linux.
    When connecting to InterBase without a password you get connected as SYSDBA.

  • 12th Feb 2004 Service Pack 2 Patch that fixes the following problems.

    FETCH operation from large resultset is 3 to 30 times slower in IB 6-7.1 clients when compared to IB5.6 client.
    SELECT from TMP$PROCEDURES after dropping a stored procedure crashes the server.
    Optimizer is not picking the optimal indices when a select has a conjunct expression.
    Closing a database on a ReadWrite medium where the device has been made Read Only causes a hang when closing the database.
    Restore of database generates error.
    GPRE DSQL program causes crash on SMP.
    TPC-B benchmark test causes a server crash on DUAL CPU box.
    PLAN syntax don't work with 7.1 SP1 version.
    Insert into large database causes corruption of indexes as shown by gfix -v -full.
    InterBase Server does not recognize hyperthreaded CPUs automatically.
    Cascading update causes server to crash.
    Wrong index reported on constraint violation discovery.
    Client disconnect while running stored procedure causes server crash.
    Index keys lost due to UPDATE rollback and garbage collection.
    Wrong error code reported on unique index key violation.

  • 21st Oct 2003 Service Pack 1 Patch that fixes the following problems.

    Improves stability when updating more than 10,000 records at a time.
    Resolves index creation issues for large indexes.
    Fixes server crash issues caused by memory leaks in the Windows system driver.
    Provides better error reporting and logging of SQL statements that cause exceptions.
    Avoids duplicate logging of network errors.
    Faster and better query optimization for indexes that have multiple segments.
    Solves issues related to a large number of transactions, enabling prolonged use of databases using read-only media.
    Enhances performance for sort operations.
    The service pack for Linux corrects an error generated when registering InterBase 7.1 by any other means than the "Direct" option.
