VMware Appliances Available for Download

If you want to use Firebird under Linux and integrate a Linux Firebird server into your network, using a stable Linux distribution with security updates. We can create a custom VMware Appliance for you and deliver it to you with an appropriate support contract for as long as you need it. If you want this appliance customised with other software e.g.Pentaho or Bitweaver for example, this is not a problem. Please contact us for more information.

As an example we have made available a VMware applicance consisting of:

  • Ubuntu 8.04 x86
  • Firebird V2.1.1 (SuperServer)
  • Mondrian V3.0.4 with their foodmart example already set up with Firebird

The appliance can be downloaded directly from IBPhoenix:
ibpMondrian.zip (637MB) (.zip) Right Click and Save As.

To set the appliance up:

  • Tell VMware that the appliance has been moved
  • login: user
  • password: default
  • Firebird SYSDBA password: masterke
  • Keyboard is US
  • Network is set up to allocate a dynamic IP address
  • As part of the login/setup process it should automatically setup ssh, so you will then have Ubuntu 8.04 x86, ssh Firebird V2.1.1 SuperServer, with Mondrian V3.0.4 with foodmart example working wih Firebird
  • With Ubuntu there is no need to log as root, you can use sudo
  • ifconfig will give you the allocated IP address
  • Then you can access the Mondrian example: http://IP address:8080/mondrian/
